WOODSTOCK INVITATIONAL LUTHIERS SHOWCASE
The Woodstock Invitational Luthiers Showcase will be held October 24–25 at the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock, New York. The show features contemporary, handmade acoustic guitars and stringed instruments, exhibited by their makers. There will also be live demos and performances by area musicians and an exhibit of vintage and contemporary instruments loaned by major collectors. Admission to the showcase includes free pumpkin pie and apple cider, and proceeds will benefit the John Herald Fund, regional food banks and local soup kitchens, and the Direct Grace Project. woodstockinvitational.com

ELIXIR AND TAYLOR TAKE A TEST DRIVE
Elixir Strings and Taylor Guitars have combined forces to help emerging artists in their Test Drive 2009 contest. Five winners will receive guitars, cables, and strings, with which they will be required to record a video giving the equipment a “test-drive,” and the final winner will receive recording time in a marquee studio.
