Editorial Assistant

Stringletter is looking for an editorial assistant for Acoustic Guitar and our websites, magazine, newsletters, downloads, and books. The editorial assistant will help editors in publishing digital content on our instructional guitar site, AcousticGuitarU.com, as well as provide administrative support for the editorial department, generate content for marketing e-mails, and handle special projects. Stringletter is located in San Rafael, California, just 20 minutes north of San Francisco. Applicants for this full-time position must have previous publishing/web experience or a commensurate level of journalism education. Familiarity with programs such as Excel, Word, and Access is a must. The ideal candidate will be a skilled proofreader and writer, possess solid communication skills, and have a working knowledge of HTML. We’re looking for a self-starter with an eye for detail and the ability to multitask and prioritize projects. Knowledge of and the ability to play guitar is a plus. Digital Developer

If you have experience in web development, a passion for music, and the desire to work in the media profession, please apply to join Stringletter as our Digital Developer.

You’ll serve an international audience of enthusiast and professional musicians who rely on our established media brands, Acoustic Guitar and Strings, for websites, magazines, books, videos, downloads, sheet music, and educational and event opportunities. You’ll work directly with the Digital Development Director as part of our three-person digital development team, and collaborate closely with the design, editorial, and marketing teams to create, enhance, and maintain web sites, mobile applications, and e-pubs.

You’ll need to be familiar with programming and templating languages such as PHP and Smarty and be comfortable using subversion management tools. Prior experience with the eZ Publish CMS, or the desire to learn its template development, content modeling, and system administration features, is crucial to this position.
